Eye stress is as much a concern as any illness of the body. It makes the eyes tired and you drained of energy. What you can do to prevent this is to use polarized lenses for sunglasses.
Stress comes in many forms and one of the most prevalent is eye stress. No other body part is as overused and taken for granted than our eyes. We need to protect them because the eyes are very sensitive and susceptible to stress. Modern lifestyle has come to mean more eye stress. There’s the endless staring at the computer while in the office. Then if you go out, the glaring sun and the dirt offer another sources of stress. No matter what you do at work or play, your eyes will surely be subjected to undue stress. One modern innovation to protect our eyes is the use of sunglasses or protective eyewear. Manufacturers have employed several technologies to come up with a variety of lenses to fit your particular lifestyle. If your work requires you a great deal of exposure to outdoors like if you’re a seafarer, you might have experienced at one time a glare from the sunlight bouncing on the sea. To shield your eyes from this irritating brightness, a polarized lens is what you need. Polarization occurs when waves of light from the sun or an artificial light is reflected, refracted, transmitted, or scattered into one or more surfaces. You can experience this when you look out at the lake on a sunny day. The reflected glare from the sun results when light waves do not make it through the “filter” of water. This is the reason why you cannot see anything below the surface even if the water is clear. Polarized lenses are created from filters that are polarized. Using a chemical film applied to a glass surface or transparent plastic, manufacturers come up with these filters. It is then applied uniformly on the lens, the filter molecules automatically prevents any light with the same alignment. The irritating glare is usually produced from the light reflecting on horizontal surfaces like a body of water. The light waves that strike the surface are polarized in order to match the surface angle. To protect your eyes from the glare, use polarized lenses that only allows to enter light that are polarized vertically. Although a lot of manufacturers may advertise polarized lenses in their sunglasses, not all actually functions as such. When purchasing for this type of lens, it is important to make an actual test of its capability. There’s a simple test for checking the lens if it is polarized or not. While buying the sunglasses, find any reflective surfaces in the store like a mirror or glass window. Hold your sunglasses before it and peek through the lenses. Slowly turn the lens to a 90-degree angle and check if the glare decreases or not. If the glare is reduced significantly, then you have found a pair of polarized sunglasses.
