What Would Happen When You Quit Smoking?
Smoking is a terribly costly habit! Scoff all you want but we’ll be able to prove to you now that you’re spending more than you think on this dangerous habit of yours.

Okay, so you’ve reconciled yourself with the absolute need to quit smoking. Alright, that’s good; you’ll quit smoking starting tomorrow but what next? What would happen when you quit smoking?

If you feel that there’s a need to be in possession of all the facts before you make such an important, life-altering decision then that’s good. That’s just being logical and so we aimed to provide you with all the reasons you might need just so you know that the decision to quit smoking is the right decision to make.

Smoking is a terribly costly habit! Scoff all you want but we’ll be able to prove to you now that you’re spending more than you think on this dangerous habit of yours. The deceptive thing about smoking is that since you tend to purchase a pack of cigarettes or until you’ve used up your stock, you only remember the unit price. But try this for a change: multiply the cost of one pack with the number of packs you can use up in one day (I sincerely hope, however, that you can only use up one). Then multiply it for 365 days and you’ll now know how much you spend for smoking in a year.

Does the figure shock you? But let’s not stop there. Multiply that amount with the number of years you’ve been actively and continuously smoking. What figure do you have now?

The fact that you’re smoking may also hurt the chances of advancement in your career. There are a number of businesses or employers today who prefer to recruit only non-smokers. Why? It’s no discrimination on their part, I assure you. They’re simply being practical.

Employees who haven’t quit smoking are more liable to get sick and take leaves – and this has been proven in studies made on smoking. Employees who haven’t quit smoking are more prone as well to take short breaks several times a day in order to smoke. Insurance costs also increase for employees who haven’t quit smoking as well. Lastly, there are some businesses – like a daycare center, for example – where it’s truly advisable to hire only those who don’t smoke or have quit smoking so that they’re able to set a better example for the children.

Health-wise, once you quit smoking, you’ll notice that you’re not short of breath anymore, your lungs are working well once more, you’re able to enjoy the taste of food all the more and statistically speaking, you now have a better chance of living a long life than you had before, when you haven’t decided to quit smoking yet.
