How Can A Parent Help Quit Smoking Efforts
Try to find the perfect moment to talk to the child about the situation. Don’t avoid the situation. Then ask him or her what was the root cause why he or she started smoking. Some kids start smoking to cover up another problem. After opening up, find ways to help the child out.

As good parent’s it is one’s responsibility to ensure the best for your kids. There was someone who said that there’s no such thing as a perfect parent, only a great one.

It is pretty hard to give the best welfare for children. This is because there are some situations that will tend to be uncontrollable at times. Sometimes you just need to let go and let them do their own stuff. However, the best thing a parent can do is always just inform the children of potential risks involve in certain things.

One area that deserves outmost concern as a parent is the health of your kids. One of the things that have been a major health risk is the cause of smoking. Here are some tips on how a parent can handle smoking concerns.

This is important towards health because the children may have frequent asthma or cough attacks. This may eventually develop into serious respiratory problems. The kids will also be performing poorly on extra-curricular activities. The worse thing that could happen is that it may lead to alcohol or cocaine use. Eventually making quitting harder.

As an influence to your kids here is some stuff on how you may be able to educate them about smoking.

1. Be a good example, quit smoking yourself. If you are just trying to quit, don’t smoke in front of them.
2. Don’t tempt them by leaving cigarette packs around the house.
3. Tell them of the risks of smoking. Show them what bad things had happened to you while smoking.
4. It sounds morbid, but try to tell your kids of people who died from smoking.
5. Lots of kids start smoking at age 11 and get hooked at age 14. Educate them as early as 5 and be persistent about it.
6. Tell your kid to try not to accept cigarette offers from friends. Don’t fall prey to peer pressure.

If you already know that your kids are smoking. Don’t be hard on the kid, it’s not a crime. We all made flaws when we were kids as well. Just try to guide them to quit or prevent addiction. Here are some ways to achieve that.

Try not to be a parent, instead be a friend; because it is a friend that can help as an influence. When he or she opens up secrets, keep them sacred. Then give all the support you can possibly give.
