White willow is a medicinal plant known for its capabilities of relieving pain. But, when combined with other substances, white willow can induce weight loss.
There are many kinds of pain relievers and pain relieving methods today. The most common pain reliever is called aspirin (chemically known as acetylsalicylic acid). Aspirin is relatively cheap and it can be easily obtained. Aside from aspirin, there are other easily available pain relievers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen. Pain relieving methods are based on less than scientific ideas, such as reflexology, therapeutic massage and acupuncture. These three methods are unusual methods. But the most unique so far is not a method but a pain reliever like aspirin. This certain pain reliever can help in reducing one’s weight. This pain reliever is called the white willow (scientific name: Salix alba). The extract of this small tree, particularly from the leaves and barks, is rich with salicin and salicylates that are structurally similar to that of aspirin, a powerful pain reliever. The salicin is less potent than aspirin but it does not produce side effects such as stomach upset or stomach bleeding. As a material for weight loss, the white willow cannot do much by itself. The extract of white willow, either from leaves or barks, contains no compound that can lead to a significant reduction of weight. But, when the extract of white willow is combined with other substances or dietary supplements, something interesting will happen. When white willow extract is combined with other diet materials, the tannins of the white willow serve as “accelerating factors”. That is, the willow extract enhances the action of the thermogenic ingredients. The energy expenditure of the body increases. And together with such increase, the burning or metabolism of fats becomes faster. When fats are oxidized or burned at a faster rate, there will be lesser chances of these fats being stored in the body. With less stored fat, a person is more energetic, which, in turn, further increases metabolism. This eventually leads to a reduction of weight. Still, the major effect of the white willow extract is to relieve pain. In eazol, the usual dose is one capsule only when the pain occurs. Of course, this dosage may be changed by the doctor. And after taking in the capsule, one must follow it up with lots of water. Like other powerful herbal formulations, caution must be taken in using eazol, especially if a person is already taking other medications. Pregnant women or mothers who breastfeed their babies should consult first with their doctor before deciding to take eazol. And most important of all, a person must never exceed the suggested dosage. |
