Vitamin A is not just for a healthy vision but for a health skin as well. This vitamin can lessen the severity of stretch marks.
Since their discovery, vitamins have been hailed to be vital for the normal functioning and overall well being of the human body. Among the most valued vitamins is the vitamin A or retinol. This vitamin helps humans to have clearer eyesight. It is also described as anti-xerophthalmic. That is, vitamin A prevents the abnormal dryness of the linings of the eyelids and the coverings of the eyeball. What this vitamin actually does is to stimulate the regeneration of the rhodopsin, a pigment inside the retina. This implies that the vitamin A is capable of aiding the regeneration of new cells. This further implies that vitamin A can help the skin regenerate and therefore makes stretch marks fade and eventually disappear. As most women already know, stretch marks appear during pregnancy. When a woman is pregnant, her skin on the abdomen expands to accommodate the growing child inside her. The stretch marks begin to appear because the overstretch skin of the abdomen break into small and almost undetectable tears or wounds. Scars develop on these wounds. The ugly long scars are called stretch marks. These stretch marks may disappear when the skin regenerates new cells. But often, the regeneration of the skin is slow and insufficient. This results to stretch marks taking permanent places on the abdomen. Obviously, a woman with stretch marks is less confident about her body. The vitamins, especially vitamin A, can help a woman regain her confidence by reducing the severity of her stretch marks. The vitamin A can accomplish this much desired effect in three ways. First, the vitamin A can hinder the ultraviolet radiation from penetrating inside the skin. The two forms of ultraviolet radiation, UVA and UVB, have been known to inflict damage on the skin. The UVA is linked to skin cancer while the UVB is found to be the cause of sun burns. When the UVA and the UVB are absorbed by the skin, the skin is less able in healing itself. Vitamin A prevents UVA and UVB from further destroying the skin with stretch marks. Second, the vitamin A can induce the epidermal cells to regenerate. Epidermal cells are skin cells. When the epidermal cells are stimulated to regenerate, there will be a new and healthy skin that will replace the ugly stretch marks. In this way, the vitamin A can lessen the severity of stretch marks. Such may even lead to a complete disappearance of these unwanted scars. And third, the vitamin A regulates the growth of epidermal cells. When the growth of epidermal cells is regulated, a smoother skin is produced. Vitamin A can be obtained from fruits and vegetables, such as the carrot, the squash, and the green leafy vegetables. Or a woman may enjoy the regenerating properties of vitamin A by using the botanical formulation of the Stretch Mark Prevention Cream.
