Menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, have haunted women. Some resort to therapies that unfortunately produce side effects. And this is why women sought alternative and non-traditional herbal medicines.
Today, among all animals, the human species have females that outlive their reproductive years. That is, a woman lives for many years after she no longer has the capacity to reproduce. This stage of her life is called “menopause”. A woman’s menopause usually starts at age 45 and. A few women begin earlier while others begin their menopause at a later age. When a woman begins her menopause at age 50 and lives until the age of 75, she practically spent a third of her life without the ability to reproduce. Menopause is a gradual process. At the beginning, the woman misses a month or two of her menstrual cycle. Then, after a year, she misses five months, until she completely stops her menstruation. During such menopause period, a woman experiences physical changes inside her body that leaves her uncomfortable. An especially distinct sign that a woman has started her menopause is the one called “hot flashes”. Such hot flashes are accompanied with “flushes”. Hot flashes are found to occur more often during the night than during the day. A hot flash usually begins with a cold, chilling sensation followed by a considerably warm wave that engulfs the whole body. With the hot flash, a woman may also find that her face and upper arms turn reddish. This is called the “flush”. Hot flashes may occur several times during the day. Some women who are lucky, experience flashes and flushes only about once a day or once in two days. Other women undergo a more severe condition. They have hot flashes and flushes once every thirty minutes. These menopausal sign make a woman less confident since these showed her that she does not have control of her body. Hot flashes and flushes are caused by the drastic decrease of a kind of estrogen, called estradiol, in the woman’s body. Her body, during menopause, no longer produces estradiol as much as when she was in her reproductive years. Thus, to find relief from these menopausal symptoms, some women try either the estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) or hormonal replacement therapy (HRT). While the above two methods are effective in relieving hot flashes, they also make a woman more prone to deadly diseases. The estrogen replacement therapy has been positively linked to uterine cancer. And the hormonal replacement therapy raises the risk of breast cancer. To avoid such side effects and to still have menopause relief, a woman may resort to natural non-traditional alternatives. The menopause, after all, is a natural occurrence. One herbal medicine that has been found to be effective in obtaining menopause relief is the Menozac. |
