Black Cohosh for Menopause Relief
How can a woman easily adjust to her bodily changes when reaches her menopause.  She may use herbal medicines that contain extracts from potent medicinal plants such as the Black Cohosh.  This plant is considered the hottest thing nowadays in addressing menopausal symptoms such as depression, hot flashes, and insomnia.

Menopause can be viewed as the beginning of a woman’s non-reproductive years simply because she is no longer capable of bearing a child.  But menopause can be viewed as a period of unwelcome physical changes that make a woman more emotional and more susceptible to illnesses.

What happens during a woman’s menopause, in a phrase, is radical shift in her hormonal composition.  Of course, during such a hormonal shift, a woman experiences many menopausal discomforts such as night sweats, hot flashes, anxiety, insomnia, and mood swings.  These menopausal discomforts sometimes make the menopause a dreaded stage of a woman’s life.

One of the first conventional methods used to avoid experiencing menopausal discomforts is the ERT or estrogen replacement therapy.  The estrogens of this therapy, however, are synthetically produced.  The body cannot process these synthetic estrogens as safely as the natural estrogens.  And further investigations eventually showed that ERT can lead to uterine cancer.  Thus, ERT is not an acceptable approach to bring menopause relief.

An alternative to ERT is the HRT or the hormone replacement therapy.  The HRT was specifically created so that there will be a solution to menopausal discomfort without risking uterine cancer.  Unfortunately, like the ERT, the HRT supplies female hormones (progesterone and estrogens) that are also synthetically produced.  Menopausal women who use HRT have reported occurrences of vaginal bleeding.  This means that the HRT is also not a readily acceptable solution that will bring menopause relief.

Perhaps, conventional medicine is not the answer to a woman’s menopausal discomfort.  The menopause, after all, is not a disease.  It is just another stage of the woman’s life, albeit, an unwelcome one.  Since the menopause is a natural occurrence, many women entertained the idea of using non-traditional “natural” solutions, such as the use of herbal medicines.  One such herbal medicine is the Menozac.  This botanical formulation contains the famous Black Cohosh.

The extracts from the roots of the Black Cohosh (scientific name: Cimicifuga racemosa) has been known and used by early Native American groups to help alleviate menopausal discomforts.  This plant can be easily identified by their tall conspicuous white flowers that shoot up and wave like welcoming flags.  The roots have been found to have an aromatic smell and such smell led the Natives to suspect medicinal properties.

Due to the powerful effects of the Black Cohosh, its composition has been intensively studied.  This plant was discovered to contain phytosterin, isoferulic acid, salicylic acid, sugars, tannins, fatty acids, glycosides, and formononetin.  The glycosides in the Black Cohosh, such as acetin, cimicifugoside, and deoxyacteine, are believed to play significant roles in a woman’s reproduction.  The formononetin is an isoflavone, and like all isoflavones, it has beneficial effects on the human body.

Medical and health researchers have not yet identified which component of the Black Cohosh extract treats a particular menopausal discomfort.  Many of them tend to believe that the components of the extact work synergistically to bring menopause relief.

The Menozac is a botanical formulation that contains the Black Cohosh root extract.  When a woman uses this herbal medicine, she may look forward to her menopause as a less dreadful event.
