Are you looking for useful tips about herbal medicine? Are you interested in learning the proper use and purpose of herbal medicine rather than being able to identify which plant is which and what is it good for?

If so, this article is for you!

First and foremost, just because herbal medicine is taken from Mother Nature’s gifts doesn’t necessarily mean that you have all the right to take it in any way you can, for any purpose and for any amount.

Wrong! More importantly than ever, you have to make sure that you know what purpose your herbal medicine serves and how much to take it each day in order to ensure that what you’re doing heals the body as it’s meant to rather than causing further harm.

There are a lot of ways that you can take herbal medicine so let’s review each and every one of them.

Poultice – In this form of herbal medicine, herbs or plants are either macerated or chopped into pieces. It is then applied to a specific area of the body and afterwards, wrapped with a hot, slightly wet bandage. In the olden days, this was one of the most popular forms of herbal medicine and was often used to treat wounds and other similar afflictions.

If and when you do try this out, make sure that all utensils have been sterilized and thoroughly cleaned to avoid infection. Double check as well if you’re using the correct herbs or plants.

Essence – This form of herbal medicine is perhaps most popular and most associated with the Chinese. In this particular type of herbal medicine, herbs and plants undergo cold pressing or steam distillation to produce essential oils. It is then usually utilized as a massaging oil to soothe away the pain from tired and aching muscles. Its pleasant aroma may also induce the person to enjoy a more peaceful sleep than usual.

Raw – Yes, even today, there are still some people who prefer to take herbal medicine raw because it’s said to be the best way to fully take advantage of the restorative powers of herbal medicine.

Watch out, however, for its dismal taste. You could also steep them into when taking herbal medicine in this form.

Tinctures – Open your mouth and say “aah” so you can drink your herbal medicine. This is sometimes considered the next worst thing to ingesting them raw.

Pills and Capsules – This is the favorite form of herbal medicine users today.
